Over the last decade, many of these technologies have reached parity in terms of price/performance with existing solutions in the energy sector, further accelerating growth around the world. As can be expected, this has created massive disruption for many established sectors, such as electric utilities, automotives, and industry.

At the same time, this disruption has also provided an opportunity for newcomers to ride the next wave of technology advances to gain a competitive market position, even over those who may have just deployed an earlier generation of these rapidly evolving technologies. As technology gaps and emerging market needs are identified, it is also spurring new research and a rush to accelerate the commercialization of new technologies from lab to market.

For more on this article click here

This column was launched in the last issue of the IEEE Power Electronics Magazine to look holistically at the ongoing energy transition, driven by “exponential-technologies.” These are the areas where […]

[969,974,288,285,405,933,972,967,973,968,325,975,113,191,971,970,976,977,750,340
28,155
post-77880","magazine","type-magazine","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","tag-control-loop","tag-energy-management-system","tag-energy-transition","tag-entrepreneurial","tag-grid-forming","tag-grid-stability","tag-grid-voltage","tag-grid-connected-inverter","tag-low-latency-communications","tag-low-pass","tag-microgrid","tag-phasor-measurement-units","tag-power-electronics","tag-power-system","tag-power-utility","tag-power-sharing","tag-system-impedance","tag-universal-parameter","tag-utility-grid","tag-voltage-regulation","magazine-categories-departments-and-columns","magazine-categories-technical

Grid Connected Inverters—Problem or Solution?
