TCS conferences should fall into one or more of the following categories:<\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Conference serves a research community that PELS does not otherwise address, due to either the technical specialty or the geographic location.<\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>PELS desires a relationship with the conference sponsors for strategic reasons.<\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>PELS has an existing technical relationship with the conference but is precluded from financial sponsorship.<\/p>

Proposed TCS conferences must fit the PELS field of interest, must have significant involvement from PELS, and should be organized by a non-profit organization. If the proposed partner is a for-profit organization, additional scrutiny and processes are required by IEEE.<\/p>

Ideally, a TCS conference should have been previously organized, with or without sponsorship by PELS or another IEEE entity. New conferences are subject to additional scrutiny to ensure that the conference leaders have sufficient experience to produce a high-quality technical program.<\/p>

PELS as an organization must have direct and substantial involvement<\/b> in the development and execution of the technical program. In the application process, the conference organizers must demonstrate this involvement by designating a PELS representative who meets one or more of the following criteria:<\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Member of PELS Administrative Committee (voting or non-voting, including standing committee chairs, technical committee chairs, and regional chairs)<\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Member of PELS Conferences Committee (voting)<\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Regional conference liaison as designated by the PELS Conferences Committee<\/p>

The PELS representative shall be responsible for presenting the conference to PELS for TCS, ensuring that the technical program meets standards as set forth by IEEE, and providing a report to the PELS Conferences Committee after the conference. If a conference organizer seeks TCS and does not have a PELS representative, they may start the process by asking the VP of Conferences for a recommendation.<\/p>

Conference organizers should identify the value of TCS to PELS, from both short-term and long-term perspectives. For example, a particular conference could be one of a series of TCS conferences that fit into PELS\u2019s long-term strategic plan.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Material that is published in relation to the conference, such as the conference’s final program and resulting proceedings, are classified as Conference Publications.
